Alabama Higher Education AI Exchange

  • Students and faculty from academic institutions across Alabama trained on how to apply Deep Learning techniques to classic datasets like the MNIST handwritten character dataset and a small subset of the ImageNet dataset.

Tuskegee Trainings

  • Over 30 faculty, staff and students were trained on how to set up their work environment on AAICE. Trainings ranged from general Linux training, to Docker containers, to light ML training on Jupyter. Many of the researchers are using AAICE resources for cancer genomic. Tuskegee was awarded a grant for their research in October of 2024.

Hudson Alpha Technology Challenge

  • With three different challenges to tackle, AAICE provides compute power for students to create a Machine Learning algorithm In order to classify if a given lung adenocarcinoma gene expression shows a tumor vs normal tissue.

VCOM Bio Hackathon with Praxis AI

  • Bio Hackathon focusing primarily on mosquito genomics. Students use DGX A100 resources provided by AAICE to examine mosquito genome sequences.

MSI Summit

  • The AL Office of Minority Affairs, in partnership with AAICE, hosted the inaugural Minority Serving Institutions Summit, bringing together MSIs, government bodies, private sectors, and non-profits to foster an environment where shared knowledge leads to innovative solutions and concrete initiatives.

NVIDIA Training Level 2 – Fundamentals of Deep Learning

    • Data Parallelism: How to Train Deep Learning Models on Multiple GPUs.
